Healthy Lunch Ideas for the Office

Ever feel stuck in a lunchtime rut, rotating between leftovers and peanut butter sandwiches? We get it!
As dietitians, we know how important it is to nourish your body especially when you're powering through a full work schedule. In fact, we thought we’d open up our lunch bags and share some of our go-to meals for the office.

Caylin’s Favourites:
“One of my lunches is as simple as 8 Provitas topped with half a tub of cottage cheese and half an avocado - it’s surprisingly satisfying and keeps me full.”
“I sometimes microwave half a pouch of Woolies grains (for about 90 seconds), then stir through some leftover lean mince bolognese, and top it off with a sprinkling of melted cheese.”
“When I need something fresh but filling, I grab a Woolies’ summer bean salad and pair it with a 35g biltong pack and about 30g of nuts.”
“My current obsession? Half a bagel topped with trout ribbons and two tablespoons of low-fat cream cheese.”
“I mix a scoop of whey protein into a tub of fat-free cottage cheese, sprinkle on some granola, and drizzle over some PB2 peanut butter powder - seriously, it tastes like dessert but keeps me on track.”
Bridgette’s Time-Savers:
“I use leftover shredded chicken, add a pre-shredded slaw mix with low-fat, plain yoghurt and lemon juice - roll it all into a wholewheat wrap. In 5 minutes you’re done!”
“Try having an open (toasted) sandwich with some avocado and boiled egg, seasoned with some salt; pepper and chilli flakes.”
“Wholewheat couscous with leftover roasted vegetables, low-fat, plain yoghurt with lemon juice and tinned chickpeas / hummus makes for a filling meal”
“In winter, I’m all about soup. Whether it’s homemade or a fresh Woolies one, I just heat it up in the microwave and add a side of wholewheat or rye toast for an added crunch. I also add some leftover chicken to top-up the protein in the meal.”
